  1. I'm trying to build an unattended setup for Windows 7 Ultimate. I also install applications in the audit-pass and create a user in de oobeSystem pass. The only thing I need is the partition screen. Since Vista SP1, booting to audit by running a command during the specialize pass isn't supported anymore. So the only way, as far as I know, is using the Microsoft-Windows-Deployment | Reseal setting during oobeSystem-phase to boot into audit. However, when you do this, the rest of oobeSystem will be ignored. Solution was to have a Unattend.xml file in the install dir with only the oobeSystem pass, and boot into oobe using a command in auditUser (sysprep.exe /quiet /oobe /unattend:%AppsRoot%\install\Unattend.xml)... Well, it doesn't work... At this point I keep getting the locale / timezone / product key / eula / user screens again, and when I look into the log, it says it found an already processed phase (oobeSystem) and it's skipping it, so I get presented with the unwanted OOBE questions. Anyone has an idea? Thanks in advance.
  2. DVD:\AutoUnattend.xml should do the trick... Make sure you boot from the DVD, as far as I know it doesn't work when you start setup from Windows...
  3. Actually you can... You need a little jelly bean keyfinder tool to get the used product key with your normal install (do not enter a product key, it uses one internally anyway), the key the tool finds can be used in your answer file
  4. Okay guys, something really weird is going on here... I somehow created an Autounattend.xml which works quite well (accept for the fact that I have to use SkipMachineOOBE), but when I change only one tiny thing (description+path from 1 application; new version) the oobeSystem doesn't run anymore... At first I thought it has something to do with the way UltraEdit saves the file (because I rather edit one little application without installing the full AIK), but now I edited it with the use of the WSIM (remember, only 2 or 3 characters) and the oobeSystem still skips :/ Anybody has an explanation for this weird behavior?
  5. And were can I find the default Windows 7 key? Because as of now I enter my beta key I got from MS (and thus I need SkipMachineOOBE but that comes with more questions about network location and homegroup). Thanks
  6. How did you get setup to not show the product key page? As of now I have two xml files (Autounattend.xml and Unattend.xml), I enter the product key in the WindowsPE phase, and two times in de Specialize phase (both files) and it just doesn't work. Any ideas?
  7. Hi guys, Usually when I performed an unattended setup, I copied soms shortcuts to %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch so I had a quick launch bar ready to go... Now in Windows 7 the QL bar as we know it doesn't exist anymore (and yes, I'm aware of the faked one), so I want those shortcuts pinned to the taskbar. I noticed that pinned shortcuts are in %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar but when I copy some shortcuts there myself, they don't get pinned to the taskbar (not after logoff, not after reboot), so there has to be something else, like a registry setting or something, but I couldn't find it. Did one of you find it? Greetings, Marco.
  8. The names and descriptions of the images are embedded in the install.wim file... However, you can rename them using the ImageX utility supplied with the Windows AIK (Automated Installation Kit). Usage is the following, and I quote 'ImageX Command-Line Options' @ http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsVista...2592e91033.mspx So, the following is the way to go: imagex /info d:\imaging\install.wim 'Windows Vista ULTIMATE (vLite)' 'Windows Vista ULTIMATE' 'Windows Vista ULTIMATE' /check (check name/description, haven't got them handy).
