  1. thanks but I'm not planning to install Vista just to compare. the question is still, why does this happen in one aspect of the rate only...?
  2. anything else I can do/check/test...?
  3. LG doesn't like its costumers that much, they are not updating the drivers very often. SATA AHCI Controller: 8.8.0.1009 (2/11/2009 - Intel) there doesn't seem to be any newer version, or any Windows 7 version...
  4. I figured that, but Device Manager doesn't complain about any missing drivers... (and I can't find any Hardware Event report)
  5. Hi, when I had Windows Vista, the Windows Experience Score rated my computer somewhere above 4.0. after formatting and installing Windows7, the rate is 2.0, having the HD rated as the weakest link - all other components rated above 4.0. what could this mean?
  6. Hi, I've tried to upgrade my Vista to Windows 7, after a quite long Compatibility Check & a relatively (impressive) short installation I got an error msg saying: Windows 7 cannot be installed on this computer's hardware so what was the Compatibility Check for...?
  7. 14.0.8050.1202 - seem to fix that... (or the re-installation itself)
  8. Hello, I've being saving the MSN Chat History ever since I can remember. Recently I've encountered an error when MSN tries to save the history: as you can see in the image, this is not the first instance of history I save for this user - all other 5 files are in the same location. when the error msg pops, clicking YES, doesn't do a thing. the error occurs, every time I close the chat with this same person... MSN Version: 2009 (Build 14.0.5027.908)
  9. Hello, I just reformatted my PC & reinstalled Office 2007. I have my PST files in E:\mail\MtK.pst, so I changed the Data File to be the default (all emails/folders were imported correctly). I've created my Email Accounts & when I tried setting their corresponding delivery folder, I got: an unknown error occurred, error code: 0x8000ffff Is there anything I can do with it (without loosing my emails)?
  10. I'm sorry but you have XP & I have Vista. you have nVidia I have ATI - how is this related?
  11. actually, not sure they can see this analysis because the HD is not in the computer but I'll contact them first thing tomorrow to inform them... btw, do you still want/need the other 2 DUMPs? (as far as I can remember they indicated for a different STOP error)
  12. I didn't want to say anything but the computer is already at LG's lab since yesterday. now I can report to them that you found this error so they should check the CPU too (although heating is always one of my complaint when I leave the computer over there) thanks!
  13. I'm not near the computer, but: The computer is LG S1 Express. it is 2.5 y/o... the only thing I changed was the memory. it came with 2*512 DDR, now it has 1*2048 + 1*512
  14. could be. one of the times the CPUs reached 80c, but it didn't crash (i closed a lot of services & it cooled off) the crashed occures at random time, regardless of the time the system is on. I tried, it just crashed in the middle (different points). it also ended successfully a few times...
  15. Here is 1 of the dumps: http://www.smartmtk.com/Dump/MEMORY_20080913_1.7z another will be up online later on today...
  16. I think the fact I have no nVidia component on my computer is the main reason for not looking in nVidia's website/forum. beside that, as you can see up there in this longing thread, I already installed the Hot Swapping hotfix...
  17. I believe you can go into the power options control panel applet and assign hibernate back to the shutdown menu, although unless you actually need hibernate over sleep, sleep is a more preferable (and quicker to resume) option. I agree, it's just that my battery life is too short for a long sleep (yeah yeah, I need a new one)
  18. in the meantime, can some1 please try & guess why has the Hibernate option disappeared from the ShutDown List?
  19. I have 2 Memory Dumps, so it will take a while to upload them with a crashing computer. stay tuned...
  20. I thought so, but ironically the system's still running
  21. I'm trying to do the complete dump but: To bugcheck the system, hold down the right-hand CTRL key and press SCROLL LOCK twice. doesn't do anything... (i've set "Complete memory dump" in the system configuration)
  22. got it all set u, but I can't do the dump. I have no enough space available for it (approx. 5GB *2). I am trying to uninstall unneeded (& big) programs, but of course the computer hangs in the middle of the process. any ideas?
  23. in the meantime, I'm trying to reinstall the ATI drivers from LG (the provider) & not from ATI/AMD. and yes, I did a windows Update - for a regular monthly MS Update (+-10 critical updates) OK, no problem, I guess CRASH is what we are looking for (more suitable to the case) but just one question: what is crashing proglem we are monitoring? what should I write in MYAPP.EXE: adplus -crash -ctcf -pn MYAPP.EXE -quiet -o C:\AppDumps
  24. none that I could find... no, it is a 2.5 y/o notebook, shipped with XP (originally). worked fine with vista till the recent days... there doesn't seem to be an option in the BIOS to disable any of the network adapters...
