  1. i dunno about that, but i always have problems with cable select drives. i've had drives that work perfectly one boot then stop working at all the next boot simply because of cable select. and wtf is up with your sig kai, ryans pack is brilliant.
  2. now we will see how tech savvy the prosecutors are. the sad thing with these types of cases is the relative ease with which the accused can be defended. can you imagine trying to explain this type of stuff to a u.s. jury? hopefully their law and people are smarter over there.
  3. this is definitely going to backfire. the hackers aren't going to be affected one bit by this, it will take us 5 minutes to reverse their silly code. it's like the gun control paradigm, outlaw guns and soon only the criminals have them.
  4. i just pray that MS leaves the filesystem development to the experts.
  5. i don't think some people can fully comprehend what you discovered, but it's very interesting. one thing i have to note about your observations: (regsrv32 /i) != (regsvr32 /s) found a reginst in shdocvw.dll, shgina.dll, not finding them anywhere else so far...i think i've opened like 50 some strange bitmaps in windows DLLs, did you see the banners for codename Whistler in msgina? and stringtable 126 in xpsp3res.dll says: STRINGTABLE LANGUAGE LANG_ENGLISH, SUBLANG_ENGLISH_US { 2000, "Microsoft Windows" 2001, "Version 2006" 2002, "Version 1.0" } 122.bmp
  6. xp corp + sp2 yah, i wasn't surprised that it didn't work at t-39. what is interesting though is that it seems even at t-12 the structure of the registry isn't complete yet either. i tried doing my normal "other" settings at t-12 and almost all of them got overwritten.
  7. i can't believe it, but it worked. then i tried it at t-39, and it didn't work. and of course we all know that after t-12 definitely doesn't work. **** tux, you rock. i have to try other stubborn settings now. lmao, it censored d-a-m-n
  8. cool, thanks. i had trouble before getting regedit to work during setup, but i only tried it once i think.
  9. crap. i was afraid of that. it's kaspersky's kernel mode driver. bleh. this is strange. how can altering kaspersky's database change my visual fx settings?? i tested it many times. argh. just confirmed it IS kaspersky. i'm insane. remind me to not only disable, but completely murder AV when poring over harddrive logs. with just reg keys i can select the correct setting in the control panel dialog, but the settings aren't actually applied. are you sure your t-12 method actually applies the settings? i'm going to try your t-12 idea, but before i do, regedit doesn't work at that stage, right?
  10. right click, save as err...it shouldn't save as html here, i attached it. i just tested with internet explorer, and even though it saves it with a .htm extension, rename it back to 7z and you will be able to open it just fine. i'll clarify that on my page in the near future. (this is my very first night with internet access since the last update) SFC_Hack.7z
  11. i created a utility specifically for replacing sfc_os.dll while it's still in use. utility is called SFC Hack and is available at xp.awardspace.com the dll it uses is the widely distributed one created by our very own Jdoe here at MSFN.
  12. how about you try using the program at least once before you ask questions about it.
  13. feel free to not waste your time with this thread! i just engaged in a very complicated goose chase. lol
  14. i applaud the new release...but there isn't too much new about it. i had hoped for at least one major bug to be fixed, maybe even a couple!
