Sgt_Strider
Everytime I try to do an install, Windows hang during the installation process and it's done that five times in a row. Unfortunately I don't have a log for you guys, but I see this error message:Error:Installation Failed: D:\I386\asms. Error Message: The Parameter is incorrectFatal Error:One of the components that Windows needs to setup could not be installed. The Parameter is incorrect. The funny thing is that this problem didn't exist back in the 1.4.x days. I didn't change any of the setup and I just migrated things over to 1.5 and I'm getting these problems!
Tomcat76
It could also be a new or revised hotfix containing ASMS files (corrupt or simply buggy), or a CD that isn't burned correctly. Make sure you allow path depths beyond the specification when burning a CD; a Windows source breaks the standard spec.
sabregreen
I was getting that same error. If I recall, I either had to copy my source over again due to corruption or it had to do with addon files I was using.

Sgt_Strider
That's HFSLIP 1.4.1 - not 1.5.0...Ok, I'm using a older version of HFSLIP and for some odd reason now, the ISO isn't being created. Can you tell me why that is the case? Here's the log and I'll get back to you on the HF 1.5 issue later. Also, I have BBIE and CDIMAGE in the HFtools directory and in the past eveything worked. Now it doesn't for some odd reason. Tomcat76
Is your Windows CD in your CD/DVD-ROM drive while running HFSLIP? This is necessary if you don't have BOOT.BIN.
CharlyBrown
Hello!I have the exact same problem that sgt Stryder has when I try to install WinXP from CD on my dual Opteron based machine. In German it looks like this:Fehler:Installation Failed : D:\I386\asms. Error Message: Unzulässige Funktion.***Schwerwiegender Fehler:Eine der für die Installation benötigten Komponenten konnte nicht installiert werden.Unzulässige Funktion.***This does not happen when I try to install from a network source in our company (completely different hardware and no installation from CD).I already tried to remove ALL updates, WMP11, IE7 and the winnt.sif but it does not change anything.Attached two HFSLIP.log files in one ZIP: One with "nothing" integrated and one with WMP11, IE7 and patches. Both "integrations" cause the same error.Maybe this might help: Compared to the source I use in our company I already added a SATA driver (SI3114.sys). This is a "known good" driver integration that I used several times. I also tried to do a test installation with this original WinXP SP2 source + Si3114 driver and it worked perfect. After I used this source with HFSLIP it failed with the errormessage from above.HFSLIP.zip
Tomcat76
There is one thing I don't understand. Are you including the SATA driver with your "minimal" setup too?
CharlyBrown
The SATA-drivers are manually integrated. I have a $OEM$ folder with several subfolders that contain the SI3114 drivers and a file named si3114.sys is located in the I386 directory. Some lines are added in the txtsetup.sif as well. That's all that is changed compared to the original WinXP SP2 CD.
Tomcat76
I'd like to have a look at HFANSWER.INI, and TXTSETUP.SIF from SOURCE and SOURCESS (to compare). Preferably those from the minimal setup.
CharlyBrown
The files are attached. I'll try an installation with a PATA IDE drive just to check if this is causing the problems.------------------Edit: Using the same CD did not change anything when I tried to install on the PATA-drive. Then I used an older CD that has been created with HFSLIP 70506: It worked but IE was not integrated as it should have been. No I am building a new CD with the brand new test release. I'll report back.txtsetup_and_HFANSWERS.ZIP Edited June 23, 2007 by CharlyBrown
Tomcat76
TXTSETUP.SIF is fine. This is a funny issue.I wonder if the problem still occurs if you don't merge the driver cabs (DRIVERCOMP=D).Are the ASMS folders in SOURCE and SOURCESS identical in size?
CharlyBrown
Hi!No, the ASMS in SOURCESS is bigger.SOURCE\i386\ASMS:54 files, 60 folders, 7.761.210 BytesSOURCESS\i386\ASMS:65 files, 63 folders, 11.339.921 BytesI'll try a drivercomp=D later...
Tomcat76
Given what you just wrote, I don't think it will be necessary to test with DRIVERCOMP=D. It's clear the problem lies with the ASMS folder.I wonder where those extra ASMS files are coming from. You are only including two cab files in HFCABS.
