May 20, 200719 yr Would someone please help me out.I just don't get it. After 3 days of confusion All I want to do is just change the background imagefrom boot.wim, so that when I run the setupit will be my custom background instead of Vista's default.I'm not planning to do unattended or other complicated installs, just a simple background change. It would be great is anyone of you can give a step by step tutorial on this.Thank you very much! May 22, 200719 yr i have modify the file "spwizimg.dll" for a new background image.the bitmap ist in 517.you must mount the boot.wim and the file is in the source directory. I've already edit my "spwizimg.dll" file. What you are saying is all you have to do is mount the"spwizimg.dll" file to boot.wim and that's it?If that is I'll go back and try again. And this file is not in boot.wim so there must be an another file ! ?Do you mind tell me how do I see the contents inside the boot.wim file?I've tried to use the WAIK tools. I selected the boot.wim andWAIK told me to chose either LongHorn or WinPE. I've tried both andwhen it was creating a catalog and during half way a error message pops upsaying I don't have "read/write priviledges". It's even the same whenI've tried it in the "secret Administrator" account. Is there something that I've got to do before I can see the contents insidethe boot.wim file like with ImageX?I've got Windows Vista Ultimate the 64bit Edition. Thanks Edited May 22, 200719 yr by 123321

Thank !!!
May 23, 200719 yr umount must be accompanied by /commit switch 2 imagexthe change in boot.wim's "spwizimg.dll" reflect only wen booting from dvdfor starting install from windows u must change the same in sources dir of dvd root
May 23, 200719 yr Ok it works. I didn't understand. It's because I put 1 instead of 2 with the imagex mount command.imagex /mountrw e:\vista\sources\boot.wim 2 g:\vista2And then in the sources folder there is the spwizimg.dll that I have modified and it works whith a bootable DVD.Thx to all.
May 26, 200719 yr Yes! Finally I got it to work! Thanks all! One more question...Is there a way to make that front window transparent, so that I can seethe custom background that's behind it?If so what programs should I use? Thanks!
May 28, 200719 yr Here's my entry -lolModded autorun with background image.Installs my fav- applications on 1st logon.Similar to WPI but much much smaller and own-made HJW Edited May 28, 200719 yr by HJW
May 30, 200719 yr I replaced the bmp file with my custom one with a size of 1x1px because I thought bydoing that all I'm removing is that stupid window which is blocking my nice background.Instead of just removing that window it has also remove buttons inorder for me to to install Vista! e.g. Where the f*** is the I agree check box?! LOL Then I realize instead of changing that background in the back, why notjust change the one in the front. So that's what I did.The back image is 517, the front one is 516. As for resizing the Windows size, I'll take a look at that. Thanks for the info.
June 25, 200719 yr HJW,I am very interested in your post installer app, Would you care to share? That looks awesome!!
June 25, 200719 yr I am very interested in your post installer app, Would you care to share? That looks awesome!!It's custom build and setup for my system especially, so sharing wouldnt make much sense since it wouldnt work 100% at other systems.I made the application with an autorunbuilder. So I suggest you look into that to make something similar.
