Computer Specs"

MSI Motherboard K8T Neo-V

Athlon 64 3700+ Processor

512MB PC3200 memory

80GB Hard Drive

Onboard sound (no speakers right now)

64MB AGP Video Card (that's right 64MB)

Windows Home Edition (Up to Date on Patches)

The computer is not used very heavily. It has been running fine, no error messages during prior boot ups or while in Windows. At the moment, when you turn on the power, the fans for the PC and CPU come on but nothing else. It never gets to the bios check, so memory check, device check are never performed.

So what has died? Processor is 8 months old, motherboard is 2-3 years old, power supply not sure.

Thoughts, suggestions, recommendations?

Ripen, I'm not familar with the motherboard leads, so no I can't answer your question.

IcemanND, I don't have another Power Supply, but will get one and try that, thanks.

Ripken is referring to the L.E.D.s (light emitting diodes) the diagnostic lights on the motherboard, power on lights, etc.

if you have other RAM to check, that would be something to work on very fast.

if not the RAM then you should check the PSU by shorting out the green wire with any ground wire, and that will tell you if the PSU is working.

i think it might be the RAM.

Though that will tell you if the power supply will turn on it will not tell you if the power supply is good. As most if not every atx power supply has multiple power rails a PSU can turn on but have a bad power rail and prevent a machine from fully powering on.
