212121 Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 each time i use 7-zip to unzip it unzips to local temp and then COPY the files to the folder i want, why??? it just wastes time...
bledd Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 press F9 in 7ip file manager and you get the 2x panels then, if you extract to a location in the file manager (instead of explorer) it'll do it without copying to temp first, i think winrar works this way too
tain Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Some people like to make their temp/swap run as RAM disk.
jftuga Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 I would guess that one of the reasons it does this to prevent file fragmentation. When this file is being extracted it is probably fragmented, but then the copy command allocates one big chunk of contiguous disk (since it now knows the final size).IE 6 does the same thing when downloading files.-John
