Hello all,

I just bought a new ATI Radeon 512MB x1600 Pro and I'm having problems with it. I have a standard CRT monitor with the normal video input and this video card uses a newer video input. A convertor came along with it so I'm using that one. Problem is that when I boot my computer up, the computer restarts several times and finally boots up, but I cannot see anything on my monitor, the button light keeps flashing green.

So whats wrong with it? Is it my motherboard or the video card that has problems?

I have a 550 Watt power supply and the recommended power supply for this card is only 300 watts.

Thanks for reading this, I just bought it and I'm cheesed off I can't use it.

The output of the card is DVI and the monitor is D-SUB. That's why you need that convertor. Now to your problem. When the pc boots up press F8 and choose "Enable VGA Mode". When the pc finished booting, set the screen resolution / frequency you desire (and monitor supports). Good luck!

Make sure it is properly seated in its slot. If that doesn't solve the problem, take it back for replacement.

EDIT: do you hear the normal one beep during POSt or there are more?

what you have to do, is enable it to boot of pci express graphics, so put the odl card in or what ever and set it to boot of pci express in the bios, if that doesnt work, chances are you have a broekn card, or try another converter as the other one could be faulty

this is the problem 95% of the time. its happened to me before too... i just love it when im freaking out trying to figure out why it wont work, then i see that the traces are still out a little... its strange how the card can be clipped into the mobo and screwed in to the backplate but still not seates properly

Don't worry, I had to return the card to the computer store and they gladly replaced it with another one. I'm using it right now and it works fine. Thanks for your help guys.

No problemo! Anytime...

One more question here:

Is anybody using the latest ATI driver? I'm having problems with it, each time I would use it, games would crash frequently and I'm using an older driver which has no problems. Does anybody else have this problem as well?
