rar (self extracting, silent, solid) up the entire contents of the $1 folder and have it extract to the hard disk first of all from your installs.cmd

only downside is can be slightly awkward to alter hotfixes,apps etc when you want to alter your core xpcd as packed in a rar file.

Give us a list of your apps to see if anything can be slimmed down.

%userprofile% would be better, I use an SFX archive to unzip to %userprofile% and i have subdirectories inside there, favourites etc

ok still need to lose 61MB and i still have the lang folder so i will delete that now.

I think OfficeXP has an IE5 directory that can be dumped and I found this;

You can reduce the amount of space required by omitting unneeded folders such as the ORK, SharePt, and MSDE2000 folders. If all your users are running WindowsXP, you can also omit the OSP folder. The CAB file and core Office XP MSI file require approximately 230 MB of free space.

I dont use NAV corp but I would suppose it may have an adobe folder in it that could be dumped?

yep i got all the docs out that was aroung 5-10mb and i also already deleted IE5 from office and then just recheching all files to make sure all uneede files are gone.

hmm, didn't deleting the LANG folder free up 90mb, at which point you've already reached your target?

the lang folder is gone from the i386 but it only gave me 12.6mb back did i miss something out

Hmmm, this is a cut down nvidia install, might shave another 10 or so MB off your CD. These drivers will brand your card as MSI in the device manager, no big deal but may be to some.

By the way, I haven't tested these release
