TheTOM_SK
1. I have downloaded flash from here and it works just fine:http://www.filehippo.com/download_flashplayer_ie2. You can use HijackThis to fix the msn page to remove it:http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Popu...ijackThis.shtml Edited February 10, 2007 by TheTOM_SK

TheTOM_SK
I have disabled it via vLite in setup, but there are many ways:Start - Run - msconfig - Tools - Disable UAC - Launch - Reboot. If needed, it can be only partially disabled via security policies:Start - Run - secpol.msc (Ultimate only) - or - mmc (all versions). I keep them all in a .reg script, so applying them is a snap. Thanks again for your quick response.Cheers Mate!Andromeda43
TheTOM_SK
I also have a shopping list of registry tweaks...That means, that you sell them, right? Well can you at least tell, what do they do?I mean, I have disabled services, WMI logging and I have not found anything else.
chiners_68
I see my post has been hijacked. lolive got UAC disabled but that didnt help. I disabled UAC from control panel, User accounts. You need UAC disabled when installing mcafee 8.5 & other apps. its a pain in the preverble.. DeadheadDuke
Chiners 68Regarding item 2 in your problem list: Open IE to any page, MSN will do. Now type the address for the home page you want to use into the address bar. Once you are on the page click Tools/Internet Options/Use Current/Apply. That will set the homepage you want as the default

chiners_68
found the cause of my Dreamweaver & Flash player install problems..Mcafee Viruscan enteprise 8.5i if installed with maximum protection stops dll & exe files from being moved/extraceted etc. I found it stops programs from installing & from devices installing from drivers or from microsoft drivers as it restricts dll movment.make sure if you have this mcafee install with standard protection.
