hplsbyufan Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 I removed my EIDE drive from my self-built system. This left only my RAID1 SATA drives. I removed the first partition, then recreated it, but on install, that partition comes up as "D", and the second partition comes up as "C". I tried again since it may have been caused by removing the partition, but this time did not remove it. I still have the same issue. Naturally since each of these is a system or boot volume, I can't change it in the gui. 2 questions:How can I fix the drive letter designations? How can I fix the stupid 8mb unpartitioned space?I've removed the 8mb unpartitioned space before by formatting with a tool outside WinXP setup, but I'm wondering if there is a way to do this with WinXP setup.
gamehead200 Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 1. By using a 3rd-party tool such as Partition Magic (however, it might break the OS [not quite sure]).2. 8MB isn't really a lot. Why would you even bother?
jaclaz Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 The letter assignment should be due to the type of partition. Please find here some related info:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=23484http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=67395http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=53177jaclaz
