Someone has MSN Internet service so his email is @msn. He wants to get rid of the dreaded butterfly and go with something else. He wants to keep his email because of all his addresses, emails and drafts. If he gets rid of this MSN package will his email still remain @msn or will he have to revert to @hotmail? Or are they the same? Or if he goes to say Verizon DSL he will be able to keep his email the same? What's up with this confusing Microsoft setup?

The only way to have an @msn.com address is to be an MSN subscriber. Otherwise, he'll have to create another email address and use that, and no, email addresses generally aren't portable like phone numbers are. If he terminates his contract with MSN, he'll lose his @msn address.
