snooz Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 How do we include the -u command with a hotfix? The documentation says nothing on it.
tbone587 Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 Do I have to rename mpsetupxp to mpsetup? cause when i ran it and it was at the last step I got an error sayin i must copy mpsetup to redist folder first?
tbone587 Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 ok i renamed it to mpsetup.exe, and it worked. Are there any switches i need to install silently or no
Nastradamus Posted February 9, 2004 Author Posted February 9, 2004 No It's silently by defaultsnooz >> No switch for the hotfixPut the fix (WindowsMedia9-KB822964-x86-ENU.exe, not the other one, I don't remenber his name) in the REDIST folder and that's all .......
iN2Fun Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 @tbone587 - i noticed on the white paper it says------------To set up the build computer, do the following:From the Windows Media Web site (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia) download Enterprise Deployment Pack for Windows Media 9 Series and Windows Media Player 9 Series for Windows 98 SE, Me, and 2000 (MPSetup.exe). MPSetup.exe is labeled Windows Media Player 9 Series (for Windows 98 SE, Me, and 2000). Do not download the version of Windows Media Player 9 Series for Windows XP. EDP is designed to support target computers running Windows 2000 or Windows XP with the MPSetup.exe package.-------------------so you are supposed to get the one labeled mpsetup.exe not the one for xp. not sure what will happen if you use the one for xp.@Nastradamus - thanks for the info. i will make one up as soon as i can!
tbone587 Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 thanks for that info in2fun:) Now i better go and redo it lol
willpantin Posted February 11, 2004 Posted February 11, 2004 Nastradamus,Very Nice! Amazing discovery...! Thanks!Only one question: Does it also pick up the installed codecs? Or do you still install those via your install batches (into the System32 folder, plus registry tweaks)? If it also installs the codecs in its' msi package, that's just too perfect for words...!(I'm happy with this even if that's not the case; quite surprised at this find, actually!) EDIT: I believe your Windows Media Hotfix KB822964 has been superseeded by a more recent one. Not in the list of Hotfixes...
