datars Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 Thanks Rufo, for sharing. I must say 4029, run better the the last two version.
amdphr3@kXP Posted September 20, 2003 Author Posted September 20, 2003 My appologies, I see why you said that now, In future i will look more carefully at things like that, I didnt actually notice the part you are referring to...but i do have some questions, being an alpha, that wouldn't be classed as any breech of laws or classed as "Warez" as such would it? And also, I notice that MSFN has tweakNT available here to download as well, wouldn't that be providing a means to circumvent timebombs/activation, cuz thats one of the features of that tool...
Aaron Posted September 20, 2003 Posted September 20, 2003 TweakNT is only hosted for the purpose of switching a server to a workstation, we really wish the timebomb feature of TweakNT was removed though.
Tinker Posted September 20, 2003 Posted September 20, 2003 I could not find TweakNT listed in the downloads. Could someone please point it out to me. I have never seen it and wold like to look at it.......Thanks

Tinker Posted September 23, 2003 Posted September 23, 2003 Well after going around in circles for 30 minutes I never did get a download of TweakNT. However the only thing I wanted it for was to see if violated the rules for posting. From the chatter on other threads I would have to believe that it does. There for I can only say that it has no place in the "Windows Codename: Longhorn" forum.I will still try to obtain a copy for evaluation however so I can make a better judgement.........
DaveXP Posted September 23, 2003 Posted September 23, 2003 may i ask why the links have been removed a guide is not warez!

Information was given on how to over come the activation bug. See the red text...... The activation itself is not a bug, but there were bugs in the activation system that would not allow it to be activated...and also, it requires activation on first boot, as if activation was meant to be required on first boot?!?! So wouldnt you think, that if this was the case, wouldn't this issue be classed as a bug? This was merely a fix for the bug...and should i add that "TweakNT" was used to fix the bug...i think theres a bit of a contradiction here...oh well never mind

ric_d Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 I tried the 4008 build a while ago and it was a pain!Maybe the 4051 build is a lot better, but it still has the memory leak in Explorer.I use Server 2003 - its perfectly capable of operating as a 'workstation' without using TweakNT and without even tweaking the registry. I don't use it to serve files! It is my home OS for games and surfing the 'net. All you do is alter the settings in Windows Server 2003 and you have what amounts to Windows XP but without all the fancy rubbish. My Server 2003 is about 1200 Meg now its installed so it isn't a case of 'do more with less' as the Microsoft advertisements would have you believe.Server 2003 for the average user, does less! It is stripped of its themes and only has the classic interface. It is far quicker and a lot more stable than any other OS I have used and that includes Longhorn.
tgvjtje Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 Maybe M$ meant to stop fooling around with themes/sounds/backgrounds etc. and get some serious work done. In that perspective you have LESS stuff in your OS, so you can do MORE serious work in the time behind the keyboard....
