footballking3420 Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 I wouldn't install Adobe Reader 8 at all. Go and download Foxit Reader. You can get it as an install or as an executive so you don't have to install it at all. It's about 3mb without the installer. Does everything Adobe does, but a much smaller and faster program.I never use a Real-Time antivirus scanner because I have yet gotten a virus, spyware, adware, trojan, worm, etc. I don't even have Windows Firewall on. I removed that from my install and everything is fine. If you don't need a real-time scanner, get ClamWin. Then you don't have any extra services taking up resources.ZoneAlarm firewall just sucks up to much resources for my taste. Like I said, I don't run any firewall and am perfectly fine. Even the regular Windows Firewall does a well enough job that you shouldn't need a third party one.Do you really need 7-Zip and WinRAR? I just have 7-Zip and it does basically everything WinRAR does just without the fancier interface.
rado354 Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 (edited) Here we go:Winamp 5.3.1 Full - I would install Foobar 0.8.3PowerDVD 7 - use PowerDVD 5.0 same s*** but requires much less resourcesCCleaner 1.34.407 - CCleaner 1.35.424 slim is betterNero 7 - Nero Burning ROM 6.6.1.4 is better (consider using NCAB too )RegCleaner v4.3 & RegSupreme Pro 1.4 - ccleaner is enough.7-Zip 4.43 Final & WinRAR 3.62 - WinRAR 3.62 is enoughFlashGet 1.80 Beta 2 - I prefer Free Download Manager 2.1.494 Edited December 6, 2006 by rado354

Ponch Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 -DirectX 9.0c is included in SP2 so you don't need to add it.-Winamp is (hard to follow) already at 5.32.
hammr25 Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 -DirectX 9.0c is included in SP2 so you don't need to add it.-Winamp is (hard to follow) already at 5.32.Some games require newer builds of DirectX than comes with the Windows XP cd. I can think of one that I own that requires last may's build or later.
