dirtwarrior Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 The led sometimes flash in my computer. The problem is they are not supposed to flash. It doesnt do it all the time. Is this an indication of future problems?
bonestonne Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 could be some bad capacitors, maybe the PSU is on its way out...or the PSU isn't getting enough juice for itself, and its giving what it has to the CPU/mobo...its hard to say, it could just be the wires are bad...since wires are basically strands twisted together, if a few break, then whenever they move [even in an air current] they could create minor shorts that affect anything from LEDs to the whole tower...you may want to check the board and PSU first, then the wiring, also, make sure you don't have like 5 things plugged into one molex connector, that could be it too. you know, which y cables, molex fans, cathodes...to many off one strand is disastrous.
dirtwarrior Posted November 23, 2006 Author Posted November 23, 2006 Its not the one on the fan. Its the one on the front, its just a decorative light not the stand by or HD activity light.
bonestonne Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 the LED could be on its way out, and the wiring could be bad too...an LED is an LED regardless of where it is.
jcarle Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 I'd check to make sure your power supply is okay, and if it is, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
jcarle Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 (edited) One way would be to swap your power supply with a new one and see if the condition changes. You could also check your voltages in the BIOS to see if they're within spec. Also something like the EZ Power Supply Tester 2 can give you a general idea on your power supply and is not very expensive. Edited November 23, 2006 by jcarle
