Laptop Power on problem

Ok, the laptop:

Asus A6 Pro laptop

The problem: this happens RARELY - When you press the power on button the power light come son for a second, then turns of...after that the laptop wont turn on until you disconnect power, remove battery, then try again, then it will work, sometimes it will happen a few times before it will post.

This happens with AND without main power connected.

Its totally random, can't work it out...any ideas?

Random short in the power supply causing the overload protection to activate.

Clean the unit of any dust or especially metallic particles.

A battery with a low charge can also be the cause in some laptops.

ya, i would definetly make sure ur battery's contacts are cleaned and that it has a full charge. if the prob continues then do a battery check and see if anything comes up.

This happens with AND without main power connected.

If the problem occurs even when on mains power, I doubt it's to do with the battery. Take the battery out completely and see if the problem continues to verify this.
