Siginet Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 I can see msfn.org just fine but Kelsenellenelvian can't access it at all. No matter what he does. I know you guys have changed servers... but I would think his dns would have resolved by now. He was able to access it yesterday but not at all today.Any ideas?Or did you ban all usernames that are hard to pronounce! lol!
xper Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Tell him to check PC for zombies or spyware. Just in case.IP Removed # lfd: (IP Removed) found to have 326 connections - Wed Nov 1 05:37:03 2006Server firewall blocked several IP's yestarday.
N1K Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 It could also be that he has an entry for MSFN in his HOSTS file which is pointing to the old server..
Siginet Posted November 3, 2006 Author Posted November 3, 2006 OK thanks for the info. I will mention this to him the next time I see him. If anyone else sees him before I do can you give him the info in this thread for me?Thanks
Camarade_Tux Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 It seems I got banned too.I am under the impression that my ip is banned, after a few hours it is put on trial and when I reconnect and open too many pages at the same time, I get banned again because I look like the beginning of an attack. :-/
Kelsenellenelvian Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 I'm Back! Whatever happened that was weird!
Camarade_Tux Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Back too.I hope my IP won't get banned again soon!
jcarle Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 I'm still banned... still accessing via slow proxies...
Siginet Posted November 5, 2006 Author Posted November 5, 2006 Has anyone noticed that in IE7 that everytime you click on a thread in msfn that the page goes nuts and makes a bunch of clicking noises like you are going to ten different links really fast?I just noticed it. I bet that is what is causing people to get banned.
Camarade_Tux Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 (edited) I got banned again.I'm running IE7 but the pages don't seem to go nut. I'll turn the sound back and check.edit:indeed, I heard at least 7 "clicks" when I submitted my answer.edit2:no quick edit problem whoever3 clicks for a fast reply.edit3: when I open a page, the page is quite slow to open. Then, I hear 3 "clicks" and the page displays immediately. Edited November 5, 2006 by Camarade_Tux

Camarade_Tux Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 I took care and used a computer with IE6 to connect to msfn.To post this message I had to shut down my modem in order to get a new IP.
Camarade_Tux Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 I attached the answer to my post. This is what I got after opening only 1 page.If you want to know : using TCPView, I get lots of[System Process]:0 TCP enermax-a64:1994 23.a4.344a.static.theplanet.com:http TIME_WAITentries.As they are in TIME_WAIT state : they close after a loooooooooooong time and we can easily reach thousands of connections. We only need to open 6 pages in less than two minutes.I tried with K-Meleon and got no such problem.msfn_connectionS_bug.7z
Zxian Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 @xper - Wanna check the logs on my IP here? I'm writing this post from IE7 at my gf's place. I've also noticed the "click-click-click" from IE7.
Siginet Posted November 6, 2006 Author Posted November 6, 2006 This issue seems to be doing a number on a lot of the hardcore msfn members from the looks of this thread. How many Super Mods have gotten banned?Weird it only happens with IE7 and msfn.
