BigDaddy Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 (edited) I did a clean install of WinXP PRO 3hours ago! And then on it I installed drivers and programs! Then went out for about an hour! And when I got back and moved the mouse so the comp came out of standby I lost all the priviligies of user TOM! This is what I get when I press WIN+R:And my new start menu, which wont even allow me to reboot the computer:And the useraccount settings! From which U can see am still a member of the ADMINISTRATOR group:I tried restarting the computer, logging in as ADMINISTRATOR and change TOM's group to POWER USERS. But the user TOM still has no priviligies.ps. I also checked the system with ANTIVIRUS and ADAWARE both came out negative! Edited October 28, 2006 by BigDaddy
BigDaddy Posted October 29, 2006 Author Posted October 29, 2006 tanx, worked great! But how the hell did this permission change? Since all I did was left computer running which went then to standby and when I returned about an hour latter all of the restrictions came into place.
Jeremy Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 I've had a similar problem with permissions on my fiancee's system. I suspected it was over a year's worth of somewhat sloppy registry cleaning. I was unable to create Services nor start them after they were stopped. I tried DAF, but it didn't fix the issue. The system was also very nLitened from over a year ago, so I decided to format. Of course, that fixed it.
