Birds Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 (edited) when I start up I have some extra files in my start menu. There is a desktop.ini in the programs and also the startup folder.does anyone know where these came from? Edited October 19, 2006 by Birds
EchoNoise Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Folder customisation and sometimes system folders have them to show up a warning. You might want to hide these files by going into folder options via control panel
Birds Posted October 19, 2006 Author Posted October 19, 2006 your picture is very scary!shouldn't these be hidden by default? Did I somehow show them using nLite? especially since it's on the start menu
mikelm Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 @birds: which konfiguration did you use? did you use the driverpack from BTS? some more information would be handy.
Birds Posted October 22, 2006 Author Posted October 22, 2006 @birds: which konfiguration did you use? did you use the driverpack from BTS? some more information would be handy.I used Xable's Light Windows XP Post-SP2 Update PackI noticed that normally there are desktop.ini files in the start menu and startup folder but on this machine they are not shown in the menu. Theye are only visible if you open an Explorer window
mazin Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Till you find the reason, add these lines to one of your batch files:del "%UserProfile%\Start Menu\desktop.ini"del "%UserProfile%\Start Menu\Programs\desktop.ini"del "%UserProfile%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\desktop.ini"del "%UserProfile%\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\desktop.ini"del "%UserProfile%\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\Entertainment\desktop.ini"
