Okay then, I didn´t buy that card but I can tell you that there are better ones for the same price. This is just like an onboard RAID in 0 or 1 mode. It´s just a software RAID and will not perform that great.

sorry to kinda lead this off topic, but on my dual socket board, theres a raid port by the 4th PCI slot, 60 pins...what kind of card does it use? my dad brought me home this wierd RAID cable, its got like 2 RAID slots on it, and what appear to be 3 floppy plugs.. i really have no use for it, but whats so great about raid?

@bonnestone - RAID stands for Redundant Array of Independent Disks. The simplest example of a RAID setup is RAID1.

You have two disks of equal size. When you write to the disks, the data is mirrored on the two disks. In otherwords, the disks have the EXACT same content at all times. If one of the drives fails, simply replace it and copy the data over (your RAID controller will do this for you).

It's a simple way of ensuring data redundancy, so that it's difficult to lose data. There are higher raid levels, but you can read about them here.

I have a TX2000 and it works quite well for me. I did have a small problem with the drivers on 2003 Server but it was resolved with an update. Don't forget to update the firmware as well.

No it´s not, read the tech info and you will see.

Tell us in what slot (PCI(64)/PCI-E) you are going to use the RAID card.

I thought the TX2300 was hardware raid.

I 'm planning on setting the card on a PCI slot (the common one which is on most old and new MB).

Hardware RAID cards start at around $400, and the prices only go up from there.

And all the good SATA 2 RAID cards are PCI64. If I was you I would by just a SATA 1 RAID card from highpoint or so, even better, by a new motherboard with RAID . What do you have now?

A brand new Asus P5B (full of bugs - some corrected by the lastest bios). Anyway i'll stick with a 3ware sata 9500S as finding a good hardware sata II pci card seems to be very difficult.

I think you would like to go with a PCI-E 1x card .
