tubui
I installed a 3ghz Prescott Processor and ever since, everytime I come back from idle, my computer lags. I tried to install new BIOS but when I clicked it, I get "Unknown chipset" and all that junk. Can anyone help.

ringfinger
Its called Intel SpeedStep Technology, and I'm not entirely sure that is the issue. If the computer is idle, it would obviously step down yes, but once active again and in need of CPU it would step back up. So you have anything running in the background? Have you tried scanning for virii & spyware? Defrag? Pagefile?
tubui
Yes I did like. Say I leave idle on AIM over night. I come back, its so laggy I gotta wait for 15 minutes ++++ to even get it to settle.
