cumminbk Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 (edited) Just wondering if anybody knows or has any ideas on whether SP3 will have WGA built into it.EDIT: meaning that only genuine copies of windows can install sp3 Edited September 13, 2006 by cumminbk
bledd Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 i'd imagine so, xp's so cheap now there's no excuse to not have a legal copy
LLXX Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Even if it does it'll be cracked just like WGA has been.SP2 already had such a check, if I remember correctly...
nitroshift Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Even if it does it'll be cracked just like WGA has been.SP2 already had such a check, if I remember correctly...Correct, SP2 wouldn't install on a machine that doesn't have a legit copy of win xp.
cumminbk Posted September 14, 2006 Author Posted September 14, 2006 but i guess you can overcome any of this by just slipstreaming sp3 into a pirate copy of xp...
gamehead200 Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Just wondering if anybody knows or has any ideas on whether SP3 will have WGA built into it.EDIT: meaning that only genuine copies of windows can install sp3I will laugh if Microsoft overlooks this... Which I doubt...Nevertheless, I have a valid key, so I don't have anything to worry about!
Thunderbolt 2864 Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 I have a valid key, but what really bothers me that Microsoft decided to put in a script that "phones home" when you boot into XP.I hope they don't put WGA into SP3, but I bet they will.
nitroshift Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 (edited) From my understandings, SP3 will be a sum of all updates to the date of release. Since I am up to date with windows update, why bother installing SP3? Of course, it has some other rewritten files too, isn't it? Edited September 15, 2006 by nitroshift
