tain Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 There is a slight rattling sound inside my WRTSL54GS when I shake it gently. It doesn't sound like a loose screw; more like a component might be a little loose.I've never had this problem with any of my other solid state boxes. What is the most likely culprit? What is the most likely impact on the performance/lifespan of the device? (Assuming that I stop shaking it around )
bonestonne Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 wireless antenna are connected through wires coming off either a removeable card [similar to a laptop Wireless internet card] or off the circuitboard entirely.i only know because i have two wireless D-Link routers [one is faulty] which one has a removeable card and one is off the board.if you open it and it has the removeable card, that may have come loose, either that or its just the small cable that goes to the antenna that is moving around which is no big deal.you may want to open it up and look. better safe than sorry, its not hard to get them apart or back together.
ripken204 Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 thats happened to me before, except it was a piece of plastic
tain Posted September 2, 2006 Author Posted September 2, 2006 It is working fine for now so I'll just leave it alone. Plus I'll keep this topic bookmarked for reference in case the device breaks. Thanks for the info!
