jungle_warrior Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 what is the problem in detail?I think it can. use the newer versions of vmware(such as 5.51...) and default network settings of the virtual machine. it is ok for winpe2005.
jaybot Posted August 31, 2006 Author Posted August 31, 2006 I'm using vmware server console.winpe2005 works fine. Winpe 2.0 is the vista version, I haven't had luck using drivers from vmtools or from AMD.
Knockz Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Hi, I am unable to get networking working in vmware using the new winpe. Is this possible? Thanks,JayI found a article somewhere with a trick however I lost it. In the newer versions of vmware (not sure how new) but if you open up the vmx file for your virtual machine and add the lineethernet0.VirtualDev = "e1000" It will setup the network card as a e1000 network card which works fine with WinPE 2.0. Thats what I have been using.Makes life so much easier.Hope that helps.

Jazkal Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 I have WinPE2 networking working in VMWare Workstation using the default nic devices.here is the list of vmware drivers I preload into winpe2:vmware-nic.infvmxnet.infvmx_svga.infvmmouse.infvmmemctl.inf
cluberti Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Use the peimg command to add the network drivers to your boot.wim, then it will work. A pretty good writeup was done here:http://www.uvm.edu/~jgm/wordpress/?p=51
`Felix` Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Here is a simple batch file (attached) that will create an ISO image of WinPE and will include VMWare Drivers automagically. Requirements:Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK) for Vista (haven't got it? get it here: Vista WAIK)VMware System Drivers (haven't got them? get it here: VMware Drivers 5.5.3)All you need to do is edit the paths in the batch file to suit your system configuration - enjoy... The build takes on a minute or 2 depending on your machine performance.MakeVM_WinPE.cmd
jjshabadoo Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 This info is still relevant even a year later. Thanks for the batch file, that saves a lot of time.Ran that as well as make sure that my VM's memory was 512. And now I'm stylin.
