is it possible to run windows setup directly from the hard drive?

i have two hard drives, and when I try to boot from the hard drive containing windows installation files, i get an "operating system not found" message.

please advise,

I think you need to get a win98 boot disk, boot into cmd prompt, the run the setup.exe of the setup from cmd line. www.bootdisk.com for a win98 boot disk.

The file you run at the DOS prompt is i386\winnt.exe. Note: not winnt32.exe. Setup.exe can't be run from DOS either.

Assuming you also want it done unattended (since you ask this in the UA forum), you'll need additional switches. e.g.

WINNT /s:Z:\i386 /u:Z:\unattend.txt
