How to check what outbound UPD ports my router permits?

If I am in/on a network that blocks a lot of outbound UDP traffic how can I find out what UDP ports they will permit without asking? I checked a few different UDP port scanners but they all want a host name, what host name would I put? or am I going about it the wrong way?

Thanks,

MrChris

If they block any then they probably block all of them.

Best bet might be port 53, if you can set up a server somewhere listening on that.

But if you break policy you'll probably just end up in the cells

With some routers like mine you can select to have certain ports open if you want. Try searching through the router settings ;)

never actually thought about that.. but yeah .. DNS uses port 53 and dns is a udp based protocol. If the company has internet access.. they have to have port 53 open somewhere.
