Im not much on asking questions but I have been a member of this forum for a little over a year and I have learned a lot. A year ago I made my first "autoinstaller" if you will and I figured it is time to update it with the newest drivers/applications. I used a simple command line install since it was mine and nobody else would be using it. As people seen me use it they wanted their own copy and the next thing ya know I have 50+ copies going around (all this is legal they have to put in a xp serial, and all the apps are either freeware or shareware) I guess people are just as lazy as I am lol.

The point Im getting to is this time around I wanted to make it more user friendly since so many people already had copies so I started looking at WIHU which is great!! Then I stumbled upon WPI I seen themes done in WPI and screenshots of other peoples installers, but for some reason I had always overlooked WPI until the other day and so far its the best software for unattended installers IMO. I just want to say THANKS to all the devs and whoever had a helping hand in this software. Keep up the good work!!!

Your welcome!!! I have finished what I think is gonna be my best install disc yet.... and please don't say "search the forums" "read the manual" I have and none are giving me direct answers to what I need. Im getting a little confused with the MCE theme in the manual, is that just so you can add the MCE theme to windows and really has nothing to do with WPI?? Im pretty sure I answered my first question, but does WPI run from the CD or HD or both? Can I put my apps in $OEM$\install\applications\nero\nero.exe and let WPI install them from that location, or does all my apps need to be in the WPI install folder? TIA

#1 The MCE theme is just a bonus so that the installer window will be skinned during runonceex.

#2 WPI will run from the CD and from the HD depending on how you write your command sections.

#3 Like I just said it all really depends on the entry in the command section and whether or not you use strings like %wpipath%, %cdrom% or %systemroot%.

#4 Yes the manual is kinda weak but it is constantly being worked on and updated.

I have to agree with nutmonkey! WPI is the most powerful and best way to get all the applications installed silently on an UA-Disc. And the best is, that you can see every piece of code if you want. There is nothing like an .exe so that you do not know what WPI does on your machine. Using it for 20 months or something like that now and I have to say: WPI 5 rocks on. It is the best WPI that I ever saw! Only thing that has been increased with all the new features is the time that WPI now takes to load from CD/DVD. But since the error I had with that is fixed, it isn't a problem any more!

Thank you WPI developers and bug fixers and beta testers and translators!

Let's keep on rocking! :thumbup

Thanks, nutmonkey. It is always good get some positive feedback so you know all your efforts have not gone to waste.

I am working on a new "built-in" manual that will have some detail about every option/function with a modern interface.

@ mritter: Is this the reason, why you do not delete all the unused explanations from the language files in WPI 5.3? It would be awesome if the manual would be available in different languages depending on the lang files. :)

I didn't delete the now un-used lines because they may get used again some day. The new tabs changed things aound alot. I also deleted the Manual link from the main window, now I put it back since I found a nice "tree" for the manual. They use next to no RAM so not a real issue there. Backwards compatibility.
