ringfinger Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 I'm new to the high end graphics scene and am curious how to seamlessly upgrade to the latest catalyst drivers. I have a Radeon x1800xt, currently have catalyst 6.6 installed with the control center. Is the proper way to completely remove everything with an ATI signature from add/remove programs, including the control center and then reboot and use the default driver then install the new version? I know this is quite a newb question, but I just want to get it right the first time and not have any driver nightmares. TIA.
Sonic Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 1) Uninstall control center then drivers from control panel.2) Reboot. Standard vga will be used (cancel hardware installation window wizard ...)3) I use Driver Cleaner PE to delete all files and regkey don't cleaned by uninstaller from ati.4) Reboot. Install the new version.
ringfinger Posted August 10, 2006 Author Posted August 10, 2006 Thanks Sonic... I did search the forum before posting.... didn't find what I was looking for. Thanks again.
