ripken204
a usb keyboard will work, windows should automatically detect it.
Shindo_Hikaru
The only possiable limitations on a USB device is the power per port and if the port for some unusal reason dies.Technicially speaking a USB port chain chain up to 127 devices but the limit on it is really the power supplied. ripken204
i think for my bios i need to enable usb keyboard/mouse.
Shindo_Hikaru
Before jumping to conclusions, please check your motherboard, if it supports USB keyboard and/or mouse you are set. But remember you need to also have your BIOS upgraded as well, some boards have updates to address USB, CPU, etc, problems or better support. Shindo_Hikaru
IF you have not done any BIOS upgrades, acording to your documentations (Manual) your board supports USB Mouse but not Keybaord,This affects you by thw following:You may and may not access the BIOS due to no support, however during windows operations it will function fine.Their is an updated bios dated on 30 Mar 2006
LLXX
In BIOS options there should be something similar to USB Legacy Devices option which should be Enabled. This allows USB peripherals to be detected as standard PS/2 keyboard and mice.
Shindo_Hikaru
Not so fast LLXX, i have the manual from the site and it does support USB MOUSE but no Keyboard
hmaster10
is the bios upgardable w/o keyboard?currently I have only a usb mouse, due to loss of the ps/2 ports. w/o the keyboard, i can't even access the bios Edited July 27, 2006 by hmaster10
Shindo_Hikaru
The bios upgrade does not enable USB keyboard support. I would recommend getting a PS/2 keyboard unless the PS/2 port for the keyboard is damaged in some way.
