MSN Spaces

Recommended Posts

For the last week I haven't been able to view any msn spaces sites. I constantly get the error message in both IE and Firefox to check my Internet connection. I can view any other site so obviously I am connected. An example of the error message is:

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:

You are not connected to the Internet.

The website is encountering problems.

There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:

Check your Internet connection. Try visiting another website to make sure you are connected.

Retype the address.

I've tried all these suggestions and still no luck. I can also access MSN spaces on other computers, even when I am logged in under my MSN passport so there obviously isn't any network problems with MSN spaces or my specific passport account. I'm thinking there may be some kind o virus or an Internet security setting preventing me from visiting these sites.

PLEASE HELP!

Much appreciated!!

Describe how your home connection is. Is their a network or a router involved in this setup.

A number of things can cause this error, here is alist of some;

Router (if applicable)

ISP DNS has not refreshed

ISP Blocked it via domain name

ISP blocked an IP addy that is the same as MS site

MS Site is down

other reason that i have yet to remember or have yet to experience

Can you get access from with computers on your local network?

If so, we will need more information about your network configuration. We have asked for that info twice now and you haven't told us anything other than you use a cable modem.

How do you connect to the modem?

Do you have any routers/switches/hubs/APs?

How do you connect to those devices?

Are you running any firewall or proxy software?

I've told you all I know! I know that it's a cable modem and it's a local area connection. I'm not a huge computer person so I don't really know what you're talking about. Thanks for your suggestions so far but I really don't understand what you're asking me so I'll work something else out.

Thanks anyway

If you are using windows XP try the following.

1. Click Start.

2. Click on RUN.

3. Type in box "cmd"

4. A box should open up.

5. In the box that opened, type "ipconfig /release" NO QUOTES

6. Press enter.

7. When the this finishes about 10 to 20 seconds or when you see the prompt.

8. Type "ipconfig /renew" Again NO QUOTES.

Try this and let us know.

Yay something I can understand! Thankyou so much. I did this and it worked for my personal MSN space but I'm still getting the error message for other spaces.

Thankyou heaps though!!

When you do that it clears the Direct Netowrk Services cache (something like temp memory), i would also recommend clearing your internet browser(s) temp internet files and cache

Have a Network is different then have internet from a service provider.

Please do not be a smart-a**, it only angers techs and other who are trying to help you.

And how do I do this to the Inernet browser?

Thanks again.

And by the way I'm not being a smarta--...one of you accused me of not answering a question which I didn't understand and I was simply stating my case. I appreciate the help but Internet is not my area of expertise, which is why I'm using the forum.
