tempuser Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 How does one slipstream the latest updates to office 2003?security update for powerpoint 2003 kb916518security update for word 2003 kb917334security update for office 2003 kb917151security update for office 2003 kb914455security update for excel kb918419security update for Outlook 2003 kb913807security update for powerpoint 2003 kb916518
MagicAndre1981 Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 don't slipstream, because you have to do this with every new published update, because you are not able to install updates any more. Just install all update silently after installing Office 2003 with integratet SP2.
oioldman Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 also, even if you do slipstream and then run the office update it will stay they need applying
NateSmith Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 hm.. I have slipstreamed all the updates for Office 2003 and Office nor Microsoft Upadate said it needs to be re-applied...
oioldman Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 you may be lucky, can you provide the slipstream command you used if it is to handi have found this to be so and it is mentioned in a few other threads that this is a side effect, though they are in teh office section
NateSmith Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 I followed the unattended guide at unattended.msfn.org. The exact place where the guide is here.
oioldman Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 thanks, i'll have another go later and see how it goes
larciel Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 (edited) so how did it go? I followed the link's instruction but mine shows the update on the website as well*weird. MS Update shows 9 hotfixes, while Office update shows none. Edited August 26, 2006 by larciel
ironside Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 HiI'm just wondering if anyone else has an issue with running office setup directly from a CD/DVD,Because after i slipstreamed the August 2006 updates Office will no longer install direct from my DVD no longer but prior to these august updates it would install fine from my DVD.I now have to copy the install to my HDD then run setup for it to install, How could this be after all i have'nt had a problem until now ?I used the MSFN office slipstreaming guide to create my SP2 with all updates installation.Anybody else had this problem ?Thanks
krismark Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 I also have larciel's issueMS Update shows 9 hotfixes, while Office update shows none.I followed instructions for slipstreaming from Here as well
PaulIA Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 I just finished researching this problem a couple of days ago. You might want to take a look at this thread for more information on the problem:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=75673Look at post #14 for your answer. Based on this, I just slipstream SP2 and then apply the other patches during the UA install.
ebin25 Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 (edited) I made something of a frankenstein cd. (same method could be used for runonceex, or whatever method you use for installing switchless installers.First I slisptreamed service packs into office 2003, then downloaded all 9 updates and extracted them. I repacked them with wirar .sfx (setting to extract to temp folder, and run the XXX.msp /passive /norestart.)I then placed all 9 (repacked) updates into the folder with office. My start.cmd is cmdow @ /hidStart /Wait PRO11.MSI /qb-!start /wait office2003-KB907417-FullFile-ENU.exe start /wait office2003-KB913807-FullFile-ENU.exe start /wait office2003-KB914455-FullFile-ENU.exe start /wait office2003-KB916518-FullFile-ENU.exe start /wait office2003-KB917334-FullFile-ENU.exe start /wait office2003-KB918419-FullFile-ENU.exe start /wait office2003-KB920103-FullFile-ENU.exe start /wait office2003-KB920907-FullFile-ENU.exe start /wait office2003-KB921566-FullFile-ENU.exe EXITI then deleted the original setup.exe, made an au3 script and compiled to Setup.exeRun("start.cmd")and then, the autorun.inf[AutoRun]open=Setup.exeAfter installing xp, I just throw this cd in (or mount the image) and let it run. Granted, my cd is 680mb, but I actually prefer this method because it takes so long to extract office (using the 7zip switchless installer method.) Edited September 5, 2006 by ebin25
PaulIA Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Same here, but I get rid of those awful long file names:KB907417.exe is much easier to type than office2003-KB907417-FullFile-ENU.exe
ebin25 Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 copy and paste my friend..... if I were typing, they would have been 1,2,3,4... .exe
