puntoMX Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 + C:\WINDOWS\System32\RUNDLL32.EXE Kick that part out with HIJACKTHIS.+ Reinstall your drivers for your network card+ Check your RAM with MEMTEST or other programLet us know if that helped, but this should be the first test.If it doesn´t help then take out the network card and see what will happen .
Fou Posted July 8, 2006 Author Posted July 8, 2006 (edited) Thanks for the quick reply.I'll get to it as soon as I have my dinner. Edit: Actually, I'm doing it now -but-There's a process list on HijackThis but will it actually get rid of it, or just end the process for now..? Edited July 8, 2006 by Fou
jaws75 Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 (edited) I had the same error when I first built my last PC"DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"It was a long time ago but I think I had may ram chips in the wrong slots.I used slot 1 and 2 rather than slot 1 and 3 as recomended for that ram type in the manual. I know it sound silly but that was the cure. How about some more info like...What is your hardware? Is this a new PC?My guess is a RAM problem. Edited July 8, 2006 by jaws75
Fou Posted July 8, 2006 Author Posted July 8, 2006 I think it's my wireless nic card, since it says WPN311.sys and my nic card is a Netgear WPN311 Wireless Network Card.Do you know how I can use the windows version to scan for available wireless network connections instead of using Netgear's one?
Zxian Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Don't bump your own post after only 8 hours - we see the posts anyways, and it probably hasn't been moved far enough down the page to warrant a bump.As for your question - yes, there should be a way of not using the Netgear wireless client. Uninstall the software and driver package completely. Uninstall the device from device manager again. Then take the CD and put it in the drive, but do not install the software. Connect the hardware (or just reboot), and when the "install hardware wizard" comes up, just tell it to automatically install the drivers. It should find them on the CD and copy the files that it needs. This is generally how I install all of my hardware when I get it - that way I can have drivers for three different digital cameras (just as an example), and not have three different pieces of software fighting over control of the JPG format. Another way of doing this is to download the latest drivers from Netgear's website and extract them to a directory. Follow the same steps as above, but you'll have to specify the directory to find the drivers in. With a little common sense and thinking you should be able to find the right folder. You'll want to do the second method, since you'll be wanting the latest drivers for your wireless card.
Fou Posted July 9, 2006 Author Posted July 9, 2006 I got the Window's to work. But all the Netgear WPN311 NIC drivers are all old. I can't seem to find any to update mine! And the one's on the internet is older than the one on my computer?!
Fou Posted July 9, 2006 Author Posted July 9, 2006 Hey I have another question, people.I have SP2 and I'm wondering if automatic updates should be turned on?Alot of people say that it makes the computer more vulnerable to hackers and trojans.
puntoMX Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Yes it´s more vulnerable, you can turn it on each month b/c the updates come each month from Micro$oft. And next time don´t bump your post and READ hat people are telling you please: "+ Reinstall your drivers for your network card". Zxian explained you how to do it step by step. i´m happy that it works for you now .
RJARRRPCGP Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Yes, that is a BSOD. That's what a BSOD looks like with Windows XP.
Fou Posted July 10, 2006 Author Posted July 10, 2006 I did do what they say.But it still restarts. I said that WZC works now.
puntoMX Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Re-install your computer that could help. (no joke)
