PUnitBabyDaddy Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 I don't have IE on my system and don't want to install it so is there a plug-in or something that will allow me to use windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ using Opera 9? I was a firefox user and had the plug-in which allowed me to do what I'm asking but I'm new to Opera.
Guest Nazi Moderation Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 the plugin you speak of doesn't actually get the updates from microsoft, it gets them from a mirror.personally i think getting SECURITY updates from a source other than microsoft is a little silly.
Jeremy Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 (edited) personally i think getting SECURITY updates from a source other than microsoft is a little silly. Not at all. There are several reputable sites out there that host the hotfixes. The easiest way I think is to use AutoPatcher. New one every month, one download, select the ones you want, install, reboot, delete the leftovers. Just like WU but easier and NOT IE dependant. Edited July 2, 2006 by Jeremy
PUnitBabyDaddy Posted July 2, 2006 Author Posted July 2, 2006 (edited) Thanks Jeremy. That'll work well for me.What I found was this site http://windowsupdate.62nds.com/ and it seemed pretty good but I'll go with AutoPatcher. Edited July 2, 2006 by PUnitBabyDaddy
P1R4T3 Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Yes you can do it.Normally Opera doesn't support ActiveX controls. But by using a plugin, opera will use IE engine to display the page. No need to switch to IE to go to Windows Update. You'll get the solution on http://www.opera.com/support/search/supsearch.dml?index=415I hope it helps.
