mars_army
I'm 100% sure that during my nLite cd creation process I didn't screw around with removing Windows Help and Support...however...when I click on the icon in my start menu it says it cannot find "helpctr.exe".Apparently it didn't get installed with my nLite'd Windows. How can I add Help and Support? Is it as easy as obtaining helpctr.exe and copying it to the right directory?

Camarade_Tux
There is a Help and Support service indeed. It's possible you disabled it with nlite.Btw a little story : on a non-nlited computer, I used to set this service start mode as Disabled. However, each time I (accidentaly) pressed F1 key it got set back to automatic. :wacko :edit : /me is stupid : nlite modifications on services are listed in your lastsesson.ini! >< And it seems this service start mode can not be modified by nlite. Please open setuperr.log (use the "Run..." box, just type setuperr.log and press enter). Is it blank ?Also, have a look at eventvwr (same as setuperr.log, use the run box); is there an event corresponding to your problem (date or meaning) ? It appears to be missing? Also, I attached my setuperr.logThere appears to be a few errors in theresetuperr.txt Edited July 4, 2006 by mars_army
my02awe
Re the missing helpI'm having the same problemUsing nLite remove help is in the remove components | operating system optionsone tick removes the lot, saves 23Mb .... not such a good idea it turns outThe explain says removes help ... but still allows you to read help files ....unfortunately it kills the help and support centreI'm still testing ... so my virtual PC install is all I lost I've started again ... created a new install ... and everything is OKNot so easy if you've just built a new machine.to restore ... you will have to get a copy of the PC health folder .... register the services .... blah blahPersonally I'd start again
