ummm...still many ppl are asking about compressed files ( cabbed ) that how to open it! so still experienced members are giving that old answer ..that " use command line..then expand...etc..."

but simple way is given below...

for this..you must have installed WINRAR/WINZIP/7ZIP or anyother zip program on your pc...

ok now do following...

1.right click on any compressed files ( shown on image for example )

2.now open it with 7zip ( u can use winrar/winzip or anyother too )

3.thts it..your cabbed file is open.

P.S.: Dont laugh if you know this..lol! it is for newbies only!

Even easier, change the file extension to .CAB and open it without bothering with "Open With..." dialog box!

This should be made a sticky, lol.

Um, yeah, that's nice, but after you have made changes to your expanded file and need to recab as a .xx_ file, how can you do it with the utilities mentioned in this thread? EXPAND and MAKECAB still have their place in my unattended world. :P

yep,,

the word simplicity..

unattended for newbies... goshhhhhhh

if we talk abt the simplicity for newbies,, how many things to tell..

do u think these are the only things...

No, makecab seems to use it's own cab compression. WinRar couldn't make a shell32.dl_ that would copy correctly but makecab and cabarc could.
