DigeratiPrime
can you tell us more about what format these videos are? what is the file extension: AVI MPG VOB?Try playing the video with VLC or Mplayer.I reccomend MPUI (mplayer frontend)http://mpui.sourceforge.net/index.phpAs for converting video try these two free programs:http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/http://www.planetdvb.net/staxrip/index.htm

Jeremy
I assume it is a DVD Camcorder because .IFO is a file that corresponds with one or more .VOB files. You of course need the corresponding VOBs that the IFO is pointing to, otherwise nothing will play for you. Unless you and your son have a method of high-speed file transfer setup, it would take a long time to transfer VOB files, depending on how long the video is. Otherwise, he'd need to convert the VOB files to AVI (XviD or DivX) or MPEG before transferring them to you.
