xinok Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 I need to know any reasons why the DVI output may not work on my video card. For a few months now, I thought my monitor was the problem. But then I found out my friends laptop has a DVI output. After connecting it to this laptop, my monitor was able to pick up the signal and worked just fine, so now I know the problem is my video card and not the monitor. It's really weird - In Windows, it can detect when a monitor is connected through the DVI, it can even detect the kind of monitor it is (Viewsonic VX922), but the monitor just isn't able to pick up a signal. The video card isn't listed on Newegg anymore, but the exact title of the product was:eVGA 128-A8-N350 Geforce 6600GT 128MB GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video CardAnd this is the monitor:ViewSonic VX922 Black/Silver 19" 2ms LCD Monitor
Gantlett Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 Dude, it's really simple - replace the video card! I also purchased an LCD monitor a year after I bought the computer and experienced problems with the DVI output (the display was buggy). After realizing the monitor was just fine I replaced the card and now everything is perfect.
