I need to know any reasons why the DVI output may not work on my video card.

For a few months now, I thought my monitor was the problem. But then I found out my friends laptop has a DVI output. After connecting it to this laptop, my monitor was able to pick up the signal and worked just fine, so now I know the problem is my video card and not the monitor.

It's really weird - In Windows, it can detect when a monitor is connected through the DVI, it can even detect the kind of monitor it is (Viewsonic VX922), but the monitor just isn't able to pick up a signal.

The video card isn't listed on Newegg anymore, but the exact title of the product was:

eVGA 128-A8-N350 Geforce 6600GT 128MB GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card

And this is the monitor:

ViewSonic VX922 Black/Silver 19" 2ms LCD Monitor

Dude, it's really simple -

replace the video card! :D

I also purchased an LCD monitor a year after I bought the computer and experienced problems with the DVI output (the display was buggy). After realizing the monitor was just fine I replaced the card and now everything is perfect.

well definetly is the vid card

like gantlett said, replace it, but that may not be an option for you

otherwise, you can just use vga...
