Unclassified Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 I just got cable internet and i need to split it between 2 computers. I was looking at the Linksys WRT54GL, it can be hacked with different firmware which is a plus but is thre anything bad with this router? Can anyone reccomend anything else thats around the same price thats better?
tain Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 The WRT series are awesomely flexible little boxes. That flexibility makes them worth far more than they cost. There were some issues with certain types of heavy traffic loads (eMule, for one) especially when used with Port Forwarding. But in my experience those issues have been eliminated and everything is good to go now...even when it was an issue it took a LOT of traffic to lock my box.
Unclassified Posted June 10, 2006 Author Posted June 10, 2006 If i got the WRT54gl i would be looking for something like this http://www.techbuy.com.au/products/32285/N...ard_-_54Mbs.asp to put in the pc, yes?
tain Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 The WRTs don't have any standards compatibility issues that I am aware of. Most 802.11 B or G devices should work fine.
