theras2000 Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 The HFSLIP process worked fine (with SP2 and about 50 updates) and I installed WinXP off my new iso. Add/remove progs shows 'HFSLIP Total Slipstream'. My prob is that it still goes and downloads all the updates. I've tried running through the HFSLIP guide 3 times and reinstalled a few variations - all with the same result. Anyone know what I may be doing wrong? Is this some common newbie mistake?(I'm just about to turn in for the night so I won't reply for 8hrs but would appreciate any help all the same).
Super-Magician Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 (edited) What happened to reading instructions? Please attach your HFSLIP.LOG file. The most common mistake resulting in the redownloading of hotfixes is renaming the hotfixes from their original name. In this case, the hotfixes aren't slipstreamed at all.STEP FOUR.Download and prepare the hotfixes to be slipstreamed.Save all of the following to the HF folder, which can take Type 1 and Type 2 Hotfixes.Do not rename the files. (However, it is ok to put a prefix to the filename in case you want to segregate some hotfixes.) Edited June 8, 2006 by Super-Magician
theras2000 Posted June 11, 2006 Author Posted June 11, 2006 Ahhh I didn't know to look for that file or how to post correctly. The log showed no updates, so I tried again and it works now . The filenames weren't changed but I may have had them in the wrong folder. Thank you for the tip.
Kiki Burgh Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 you may also verify the presence of Hotfixes in you system by using qfecheck /l ... (or create a batch file using qfecheck.exe) download it from this link: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=282784
