Hi

I had windows XP home edition, last week i have updated with Winodwos Genuine Advantage validation tool (WGAV) KB892130 and Winodwos Genuine Advantage Notifications (WGAN) KB905474. I was able to update these two tools with out any issues.

I noticed later i was unable to connect to this machine through Remote Desktop connection from different machine remotely. I used to connect before installing WGAV and WGAN. Please help what could be the problem. I can't even revert back the installation.

Might want to right click on my computer and check to see if remote connection is enabled also wouldn't hurt to check your sharing and security settings.

I verified by right clicking on my computer and properites then Remote tab , Remote connection is enabled. Regarding Sharing and security settings how it should be and what are the default settings.

You shouldn't have updated those... nor installed them in the first place

Many others, even those with legit copies of XP, have experienced problems after installing the WGA update.

My best advice would be to remove it.

Can you please tell how can i remove the update.

There's another thread about it but basically you boot to a command prompt and delete all its files. (WGA*.EXE, WGA*.DLL)

Uhhh...yeah.

XP Home doesn't come with Remote Desktop Server. Only XP Pro does.
