This bug is *not* related to Gape's SP2 nor 98SE2ME.

It is caused by MS06-013 [Q912812] hotfix, respectively URLMON.DLL.

Please see bug + fix [install URLMONFX.EXE] here:

I dont expect the June IE Cumulative update to fix the URLMON.DLL problem KB912812 (April IE Cumulative update) for IE6 SP1 has. so URLMONFX.EXE will need to be used after installing the upcoming June Internet Explorer update which should come out either June 13 or June 14.

speaking about IE updates:

What is the best way (presumably unattended) to run the unofficial IE905495 update? I can't seem to make it understand where its directory is without it asking me [defaulting to \WINDOWS\TEMP\ixp000.tmp, which is in fact where it actually is!], although after answering the superfluous file locator question it does install otherwise fine.

Probably also applies to IE911567 for the same reason.

um this is off topic CLASYS but restart the computer and then run the IE905495 patch as normal; it should be NO big deal as long as the patch does its job as expected.

were your IE settings set at medium or low? if so (and the IE912812 update was installed), then run URLMONFX.EXE to replace the urlmon.dll file with the one that should make the Windows Update site work correctly again.
