Dels Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 just curious, some people said this setting can be use to improve game and multimedia performance, is that true?how to get it :1. Start -> run -> type "dxdiag" w/o quotes2. go to "More Help" tab and click the override, the min is 40 and max is 120thx
Ophiel X Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 (edited) i've never heard of this setting before, but my guess is that it exists for monitor compatibility issues.i.e. to prevent unsupported rates you could lock it @ 60 or 70 hzedit: also a word of caution: if there is no hardware check on this setting you can probably permanently damage your monitor by using a wrong setting. Dels Posted May 23, 2006 Author Posted May 23, 2006 thanksso what it could be? monitor refresh rate? maybe another?
Ophiel X Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 if you have to ask that question you shouldn't be messing with it.
EchoNoise Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Now thats a stupid answer. The override function is for monitors that have an irregular refresh rate.
T D Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Isn't that only for Directdraw? Because most games use Direct3D?Most of my games (funnily) use OpenGl so I am a n00b at DirectX.
