You might have to search around a bit for the drivers, or do a little bit of INF modification - the other more knowledgeable members of this forum can help you with that, if you supply the exact hardware model numbers :)

Acer Aspire 5670.

you can get windows xp drivers here: http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/noteb..._5620_5670.html

ive tryed a program called driver magic to get drivers and only one of them is in the 62nds database. i also tryed looking on driver guide, to no avail...

my only option i guess is editing INFs, but i dont know how to do that.

i would supply the model numbers, but some of them i dont know... here is what i know:

Intel Wireless g 3945ABG

ATi Moblity Radeon - driver found

Broadcom 5789M gigabit lan

some kind of 6-in-1 card reader

some kind of "high definition audio bus"

some kind of conexant modem

the main things are the wifi and lan, and the sound. although it would be nice to be able to use all the devices...

ive found 3rd party drivers for the video card (that i use anyways on my desktop - omega drivers)

Might install Belarc to see a little more info on pc.

http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

Some info from HP on the audio and modem.

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/hp...load/23335.html

Should be able to the get the modem to work not sure about the audio.

HDAUDIO\FUNC_02&VEN_14F1&DEV_2BFA&SUBSYS_10250098

Capabilities: Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartCP

; Controller: HSFHWAZL

; Daa Type: SMART

; Codec: LSD

Mfg% = HSF_MODEM

Might try this drive off of the conexant site for the modem.

Janus,

I will pick w98 overe XP any day but...

As someone said before, it' best to use the CD that come with the laptop. It will be a royal pain to look for all the drivers and try them. Then you are not even sure they are the best drivers...

And droping the dual-core that w98 will not use is a bid sad.

My advice is: W-XP then install SafeXP and mark just about everything for disabling.

Some drivers from the Acer site might be multi-OS bundles. Have You checked what is inside the archives?
ive checked some of them, but most of them are just a few INFs that are xp only. or exe installers that wont run on 98
