-I- Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 (edited) PRE NOTE- this is NOT about warez..is it posible to create a cdrom, that auto enabled WGA. for people who have (no or not yet) setup internet conections... (stand alone computers), that want to run for example WMP10 or other wga-required software.... al this without using hacks cracks or other warez ofcaurce ... (as i dont think ms would allow this (even if it was on a legit copy of windows). Note this is NOT about warez but about computers (in my case MCE) that i do NOT want to connect to the internet for activation, previously it could be done by phone-activation, now it only seams do-able with WU please advice.... Its the use or special commands to allow an installation to take place without having to be at the computer, thus saving time and money. If you enable WGA for your installation its perfectly fine. I've done it along with many others. There is no hacks involved in making an unattended CD its all about knowing commands and the use of batch files e.t.c. Bare in mind if you don't own the origional OS then yes, its illigal. good luck.
Sonic Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 WGA protects just the download. If you have the file found in cdrom magazin for example you can use that without any problem about legal stuff.
-I- Posted April 24, 2006 Author Posted April 24, 2006 true, but some software checks wga (wasn't sure wmp10 did it to), at least no i found that Windows PLUS Digital media doesn't install without wga.. (checks by installer), and im anicipationg other software will do so to.. its not imposible to use windows update to enable wga (but surely undesierable), For example because i dont like AV-software slowing down a HTPC, thats why i asked. (or did i actualy overlook some sort of - offline checker).
Sonic Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 true, but some software checks wga (wasn't sure wmp10 did it to),Have you one example ?If software need WGA, they will need internet too ... there isn't phone activation for wga yet ...
mc134 Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 I have two examples that check Windows Genuine advantage before installation. Windows Defender and Microsoft PhotoStory 3 for Windows. I have had to make custom MST modification to both even though I am using a legit version of Windows, neither will install unattended because both check WGA and WGA is not registered until a reboot. After 2 weeks of installation failures I finally got both to install successfully.
