erpdude8 Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 Note to the creators of the unofficial Win2000 SP5 package - I was wondering if the KB838018 hotfix is included. It's a hotfix that updates the FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions under Windows 2000. If it isn't can it be added into the next release of unofficial Win2000 SP5? it would be a nice addition for Win2k users who have installed the Frontpage 2000 Server Extensions.Link to MS KB article 838018:http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=838018if anyone wants to request this hotfix, use the tips here to email MS support for the KB838018 hotfix:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=31579
Gurgelmeyer Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Hi I hardly believe my eyes - you are the first person to find out about a hotfix which is NOT included in the USP. Thank you Well - I need some help here.... does anyone have it? Please??/G B)
-I- Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 have send an email asking for it, but the SA for the company i log in as, kind of has expired (so lets hope they'l reply)
Gurgelmeyer Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Any news?? Please tell me some good news soon. I've been trying to get it from MS PSS myself but they wont let me have it unless I pay.I think this LAST USP 5.1 release somehow deserves a little extra attention, so I'm adding the 4 security updates from this week in the meanwhile. Hope noone minds /G B)(ps - by LAST USP 5.1 I mean that NEXT USP will be 5.2 - so this one has to last a few months)
w2kfan Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 I just registered today for two reasons - I felt bad about using the USP5.1 without having a way to thank Gurgelmeyer (thanks a lot! ) and secondly, I was following this topic on 838018 - and checked the usual places to see if this fix could be downloaded somewhere. While I didn't find a download as such, I did hit upon the list of fixes in Windows XP SP2 - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...%5BLN%5D;811113Reason for this coming up in Google was that it included, wait for it, http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=838018The article listed an install of Office 2000 SP3 as requirement for this fix, and it listed the files thatwould be installed:Date Time Version Size File name ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 15-Jun-2004 17:46 5.4.15.0 1,537,016 Windows2000-kb838018-x86-enu.exeAfter you install the hotfix, the global version of this fix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table: Date Time Version Size File name ----------------------------------------------------------- 20-Sep-2003 19:21 4.0.2.7523 20,540 Admin.dll 20-Sep-2003 19:21 4.0.2.7523 16,439 Admin.exe 20-Sep-2003 19:21 4.0.2.7523 20,540 Author.dll 20-Sep-2003 19:21 4.0.2.7523 16,439 Author.exe 20-Sep-2003 19:22 4.0.2.7523 188,480 Cfgwiz.exe 14-Jun-2004 16:27 4.0.2.8912 184,435 Fp4amsft.dll 19-Sep-2003 22:22 4.0.2.7523 82,035 Fp4anscp.dll 20-Sep-2003 19:22 4.0.2.7523 147,513 Fp4apws.dll 20-Sep-2003 19:22 4.0.2.7523 49,210 Fp4areg.dll 19-Sep-2003 22:22 4.0.2.7523 102,509 Fp4atxt.dll 19-Sep-2003 22:22 4.0.2.7523 618,605 Fp4autl.dll 20-Sep-2003 19:22 4.0.2.7523 41,020 Fp4avnb.dll 20-Sep-2003 19:22 4.0.2.7523 32,826 Fp4avss.dll 20-Sep-2003 19:21 4.0.2.7523 49,212 Fp4awebs.dll 11-Jun-2004 18:08 4.0.2.8912 876,653 Fp4awel.dll 19-Sep-2003 22:22 3.0.2.1706 14,608 Fp98sadm.exe 19-Sep-2003 22:22 3.0.2.1706 109,328 Fp98swin.exe 20-Sep-2003 19:21 4.0.2.7523 24,632 Fpadmcgi.exe 20-Sep-2003 19:21 4.0.2.7523 20,541 Fpadmdll.dll 20-Sep-2003 19:21 4.0.2.7523 188,494 Fpcount.exe 19-Sep-2003 22:22 1997.5.27.0 94,208 Fpencode.dll 20-Sep-2003 19:21 4.0.2.7523 20,541 Fpexedll.dll 11-Jun-2004 18:09 4.0.2.8912 598,071 Fpmmc.dll 20-Sep-2003 19:21 4.0.2.7523 20,538 Fpremadm.exe 20-Sep-2003 19:21 4.0.2.7523 28,728 Fpsrvadm.exe 20-Sep-2003 19:21 4.0.2.7523 20,536 Shtml.dll 20-Sep-2003 19:21 4.0.2.7523 16,437 Shtml.exe 20-Sep-2003 19:21 4.0.2.7523 16,449 Stub_fpsrvadm.exe 20-Sep-2003 19:21 4.0.2.7523 65,601 Stub_fpsrvwin.exe 20-Sep-2003 19:21 4.0.2.7523 32,827 Tcptest.exe 15-Jun-2004 19:05 15,984 Kb838018.catI went into my Windows XP installation and confirmed that the first two files were present, and of the version listed. The question I have now is - would we be able to use the files from Windows XP SP2 for the hotfix ? I think the technical answer is yes, but I am unsure about the legal aspect. I know that we're not supposed to use WXP SP2 files if we do not own a copy of XP, but, as we do own a copy of Win2000, are we allowed to take the hotfixes from wherever we can get them ?Thanks again, regards, w2kfan
-I- Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 its rather illigal - so i vote against it (and wisper at Gurgle - that as long as i dont know about it, he is more than welcome to add these files). GRINNNNNNN
Gurgelmeyer Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 Good news: I got the real files now. Funny - because literally every bit of them match the XPSP2 ones. It's in the latest USP's, which I've just uploaded (they will probably be available for dl very soon).Best regardsGurgelmeyer B)
-I- Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 I has the to now but the darn basterds send me the NL (versions because i emial from a dot NL email addy.. - :S SIGH ....
Gurgelmeyer Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I once got some hotfixes in Korean - well they are probably underpaid hard working people - but still, I couldn't help smiling /G B)
