LLXX
Use a resource editor to edit explorer.exe for the banner. It's #157 in the bitmap sectionThe start button text is in the string table, #37.This is what you mean?

LLXX
You may also wish to try this:http://www.mdgx.com/newtip16.htm#RSBHope this helps. Can you explain how to enter the nulls in EDIT v2.0.026 searchbox? In binary mode it appears you can search for all byte values except nulls and a few others like 9 (tab) and 13 (Enter). I've been using it for a long time and still haven't figured it out (I know ctrl+shift+2 can enter a null into the file, but I can't search for them). Anybody who knows how to type a null character in the EDIT.COM search box, please post here.Much appreciated.________________________________You can use StartBTN Renamer.http://www.geocities.com/startbtn/Sorry, only for Windows XP.Does not support 9x OSes. LLXX
I've figured it out. It just can't be done. You can enter 9 and 13 (tab and enter) in the searchbox by highlighting a 9 or 13 already in your file and then doing the search just like you can highlight any other string and then search -> find or search -> replace will set that string into the Find box, but when you highlight a null nothing will appear in the searchbox. If you highlight a string *with* a null inside it and then try search, it'll truncate the string right before the null, because in the searchbox the null character is used to delimit the end of the search string!EDIT v2.0.026 was much better than the one supplied with original MS-DOS v6.22, but it still looks like it needs a few improvements
