Device manager does not show devices?

You either got delete-happy on your files or used a crappy registry cleaner.

No Services he may have disabled would effect Device Manager.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\devmgmt.msc = Device Manager

If you don't have it, expand it from your XPCD, grab it from a friend.

If you used a crappy registry cleaner, then try importing the attached registry file into your own registry and seeing if it fixed it.

If you're looking for the best registry cleaner, then JV16 PowerTools is your best bet, imo.
