is there a way to replace the shell32.dll file while working in the os when the file is in use with the modified file

plz explain fully or give the code how to do it.(a bat file will be more useful for me)

if you have a extracted hotfix which replaces the shell32.dll you can overwrite the file. just edit the update.ver with the correct values after reboot you have a working edited shell32.dll

1. Make a bootable CD with the file on it and just use the command prompt to copy it over.

2. Put the HD in another PC and just drag and drop the file from the system drive/partition onto yours.

3. Partition your drive and create another one, install Windows on that, then boot from it and replace the DLL from the new paritition to the other one.

1. Would be easiest.
