Nucleus Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 (edited) THE TITLE SHOULD BE KB911565. I CANT EDIT IT THOUGH SO CONSIDER KB911564 TO BE WRONGWindows media player installs through svcpack.inf, as the first application. All the other updates follow.;Windows XP[Version]Signature="$Windows NT$"MajorVersion=5MinorVersion=1BuildNumber=2600[setupData]CatalogSubDir="\i386\SVCPACK"[ProductCatalogsToInstall][setupHotfixesToRun]MediaPlayer.exeKB873339.exe /q /n /zKB873374.exeKB885250.exe /q /n /zKB885626.exe /q /n /zKB885835.exe /q /n /zKB885836.exe /q /n /zKB886185.exe /q /n /zKB887742.exe /q /n /zKB888113.exe /q /n /zKB888302.exe /q /n /zKB890046.exe /q /n /zKB890830.exe /qKB890859.exe /q /n /zKB891781.exe /q /n /zKB893756.exe /q /n /zKB893803.exe /q /n /zKB894391.exe /q /n /zKB896358.exe /q /n /zKB896422.exe /q /n /zKB896423.exe /q /n /zKB896424.exe /q /n /zKB896428.exe /q /n /zKB898461.exe /q /n /zKB899587.exe /q /n /zKB899589.exe /q /n /zKB899591.exe /q /n /zKB900725.exe /q /n /zKB901017.exe /q /n /zKB901214.exe /q /n /zKB902400.exe /q /n /zKB904706.exe /q /n /zKB905414.exe /q /n /zKB905749.exe /q /n /zKB905915.exe /q /n /zKB908519.exe /q /n /zKB910437.exe /q /n /zKB911564.exe /q /n /zKB911565.exe /q /n /zKB911927.exe /q /n /zKB912919.exe /q /n /zKB913446.exe /q /n /zqchain.exeAttached is the svcpack folder. When installation finishes, KB911565 is not installed. What I'm I doing wrong here? Edited February 27, 2006 by Nucleus
jfmartel Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 That KB is related to WMP.I've been trying to install that patch with SVCPACK and then install thru GPO WMP. It's not working.I know there is a patch for WMP9 and WMP10. Check if you have the right version for the WMP you are installing. It's maybe a problem where you have to get the application installed and rebooted before you can install your patch...Personnaly, I've removed that patch. It's the only one that doesn't work in my scenario.Hope this help!
jfmartel Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Then I'm pretty sure you can't install the patch with after installing it....You might want to check on Microsoft newsgroup to seek help from an MVP.
Nucleus Posted February 28, 2006 Author Posted February 28, 2006 I don't get it. I can't install the patch for wmp10 after installing wmp10? Where's the logic in that?
jfmartel Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Try it in a Virtual MachineInstall WMP10, then right after, install the patch. See if it works.
Nucleus Posted March 1, 2006 Author Posted March 1, 2006 it works when the patch is installed afterwards, but not during unattended installation.
jfmartel Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Then you might want to ask in Microsoft newsgroup to get help from an MVP. Maybe it has already been posted.Microsoft NewsgroupsGood luck!
RyanVM Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 You can always use my or boooggy's WMP10 addon and directly slipstream WMP10 into your CD with 911565 already included
Nucleus Posted March 1, 2006 Author Posted March 1, 2006 I know, thanks, but I prefer having all the Microsoft patches in the svcpack folder. It’s a way to keep things organized.
RyanVM Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 I think things are far more organized when there's nothing in the svcpack folder to install because the files are just "there" from the beginning
buletov Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 I think things are far more organized when there's nothing in the svcpack folder to install because the files are just "there" from the beginning It's like talking to a wall, isn't it?The same as when I try to explain your pack to Autopatcher users...
Nucleus Posted March 2, 2006 Author Posted March 2, 2006 Can anyone take a guess what's wrong here? svcpack.inf installs media player 10 FIRST. THEN it starts installing patches. When it comes to installing KB911565 it does NOT install it. When windows boots and I manually install it with the same switches it installs just fine. Or when automatic update runs it downloads and installs it just fine.
argon007 Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 You can install that update by using the [GuiRunOnce] section of winnt.sif.the update will be installed on the first logon after installing windows.
